It is a parent’s duty to pay attention to a child. To notice their idiosyncrasies. To see the way they operate, and how it relates to the world. To empathise. To prepare them with the tools they need to understand themselves and navigate the world, not smoothly and painlessly, but authentically.
Hobby goggles
When I became serious about piano, I’d see music in a new light. I’d hear a song and challenge myself to figure it out on the keys. No sheet music or YouTube tutorial, just sitting down, getting it wrong until I get it right.
Jargogling
No longer can we excogitate a nice twattling session to endear ourselves to our favourite fizgig. We can no longer coney-catch someone out of their lunch after groaking over-long.
